Matthews, Indiana is creating a downtown revitalization plan. The aspirations of the plan are to:

• Illustrate streetscape beautification that promotes historic and cultural resources such as the Bridge Festival, retail businesses, war memorial, and the Mississinewa River;
• Identify infrastructure projects that facilitate downtown beautification and local commerce;
• Involve the whole community in a fun and engaging way; and
• Explore opportunities for downtown economic development that can strengthen the town's identity and enhance opportunities for tourism and business development in the emerging economy.
