For many communities, rejuvenation can begin with a revitalization of downtown. Historically, a community’s downtown has been a center of activity, trade, and socialization, and provides an identity for the broader community.  The Fairmount Main Street organization and The Town of Fairmount have initiated this process to revitalize Fairmount's Downtown.

Through this process a plan will be created to enhance and leverage investment in sidewalks, streets, businesses, and other downtown elements within Downtown Fairmount. There will be opportunities for public participation in the process, and the Plan will likely include sketches to illustrate the future vision and text to identify both long- and short-term projects within downtown.

Though the vision may seem far, community participation, identification of potential funding sources, and enthusiastic leadership will ensure that improvements to downtown Fairmount will occur.
